I bought these for a little patient of mine who was decannulated a few months ago. Being an active, inquisitive toddler, it is vital that an occlusive dressing covers his trach stoma to prevent aspiration of toys, food, whatever he may pick up. Insurance only provides one dressing per day, but this little guy saturates the dressing with secretions so he needs a few a day. I don't want to risk infection from leaving a wet dressing on, plus they do eventually peel at the edges. These dressings are invaluable at how well they cover a wound. I recommend cleaning and thoroughly drying the surrounding skin, where the border adheres, and if your physician orders Cavilon skin wipes to help keep the Mepilex in place that should help a lot. I looked all over and found the best price here. Shipping was super fast too.
